Housing and Campus

COVID-19 is easily spread through close human contact and unfortunately, the residential university environment naturally increases the likelihood of transmitting infections. Out of an abundance of caution and care for our community members, we are requiring all undergraduate students in Rensselaer Residential and Greek Commons to move out of these residences by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 20. To facilitate this transition, we will extend Spring Break through March 20.

All students will need to vacate university-owned housing by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 20.

We understand there will be cases where students really aren’t able to return home during this time and we will make exceptions for students who demonstrate they have no place to go. If a request is denied and a student feels we missed something, they should call the Dean of Students Office at (518) 276-6266 or email DOSO@rpi.edu.

Students who need financial assistance should contact their class dean at (518) 276-8022 or email success@rpi.edu.

Arnoff will begin shipping out orders on Monday, March 30, and they will then ship from New York via standard UPS ground service. Their goal is to have all student goods shipped from their facility by Friday, April 3.

  • All students who remain on campus may be reassigned and may need to move out of their current residence halls if they have a roommate (after other spaces are cleaned) to reduce density within the residential community. This is also true for Arch students.

  • Staff will respond to requests for maintenance. Submit your maintenance request

All students permitted to stay on campus will need to continue to abide by all Institute policies, including but not limited to, the Rensselaer Handbook for Student Rights and ResponsibilitiesStudent Living and Learning Policy, and Rensselaer Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy

Students must also comply with all Institute directives regarding social distancing and COVID-19 prevention. The Institute will remain vigilant in responding to violations of Institute policies and student misconduct.
