Employee Return-to-Work/Campus Fall 2021 FAQs

Process for Returning to On-Site Work

All faculty and staff returning to campus must complete the following four (4) requirements on or before 8/23/2021, in order to be cleared by the Division of Human Resources to return to campus:

  1. Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine: All faculty and staff returning to campus must be fully vaccinated by 8/23/2021, unless they have received an exemption from the Division of Human Resources due to a medical or religious accommodation. The form to request a vaccine exemption can be obtained by contacting Louis Padula, Director of Benefits, Retirement, and HRIS, at 518-276-6164 or padull@rpi.edu.
  2. Provide a Negative COVID-19 Test: All faculty and staff returning to campus must provide a negative COVID-19 test to the Division of Human Resources prior to returning to campus. Tests can be facilitated at a local pharmacy or can be scheduled at Rensselaer using the DIAL tool. Negative tests obtained off campus must be provided to Louis Padula, Director of Benefits, Retirement, and HRIS, at 518-276-6164 or padull@rpi.edu.
  3. Complete the COVID-19 Health Assessment Questionnaire: All faculty and staff returning to on-site work must complete the COVID-19 Health Assessment Questionnaire and submit the completed form to the Division of Human Resources. The questionnaire can be accessed here.
  4. Complete the Virtual Return to Campus Percipio Module: All faculty and staff returning to campus must complete the Virtual Return to Campus Percipio Module prior to returning to campus. This module can be accessed by logging into https://rpi.percipio.com with RCS login/password information.

Faculty and staff may request a medical accommodation to delay their return to on-site work. A Request for Medical Accommodation Form can be obtained by contacting Louis Padula, Director of Benefits, Retirement, and HRIS, at 518-276-6164 or padull@rpi.edu. All requests for accommodation will be reviewed by the Division of Human Resources and the Portfolio owner for determination.

Yes, any equipment that was issued for the purpose of working remotely must be returned on the employee’s first day back.

No.

No. Childcare is not a criterion for a request for exception. Additional services have been added by A New England Nanny and include in-home teachers, assistance with remote learning, and in-home care versus daycare options. COVID-19 Vaccinations

Yes, an employee must complete a Request for Vaccine Exemption Form to request an exemption for religious or medical reasons. The form can be obtained by contacting Louis Padula, Director of Benefits, Retirement and HRIS, at 518-276-6164 or padull@rpi.edu.  All requests for exemption will be reviewed by the Division of Human Resources for determination.

Faculty and staff are required to update the Dial Tool with their vaccination status. All newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.

Unless the employee has been granted an exemption due to medical or religious reasons, they will not be allowed to work. The employee can request a temporary, unpaid personal leave of absence.

Testing

All employees must be tested.

Every week for vaccinated employees, and two times per week for employees who are not vaccinated.

Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Your Rensselaer ID card.

Timely completion of your pre-scheduled COVID-19 tests throughout the fall 2021 semester is a requirement of Rensselaer health and safety protocols. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in your access to on-campus academic buildings and facilities being revoked until you complete your next test.

Vaccinated Employees

  • After international travel or travel to a domestic hotspot: must COVID-19 test 1-3 days after travel and provide negative COVID-19 test prior to return to campus
  • Must wear masks in all indoor spaces

Unvaccinated Employees

  • Testing twice per week
  • Maintain social distancing  
  • After international travel or travel to a domestic hotspot: must quarantine for 10 days; COVID-19 test 3-5 days after travel and provide negative COVID-19 test prior to return to campus
  •  Must wear mask at all times

Yes. Disposable masks will be provided to individual Portfolios and you will obtain masks from one individual in your Portfolio.

No, you can wear your own mask; however, bandanas and gators are not permitted.

No. Meeting size will be based on New York State and CDC guidelines. 

Yes, following established event capacity based on New York State and CDC guidelines.

Yes.

Fully vaccinated and masked faculty and staff should follow normal elevator capacity requirements.
